SenseText will provide a second opinion on suspicious messages to further protect enterprises and consumers from cyber fraud linked with smishing and APP fraud.

July 8, 2022 (Cambridge, UK) – PORGiESOFT, an AI cybersecurity startup specialising in fraud detection, today announced the launch of its latest AI product, SenseText. The solution is designed to address evolving fraud detection challenges for both businesses and customers. SenseText helps consumers, employees, and customers risk-assess suspicious messages, while also equipping enterprise security teams with threat intelligence and real-time attack analysis. PORGiESOFT was awarded a grant by the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to accelerate the development of this product.

SenseText uses semi-supervised machine learning models, open-source intelligence, and natural language processing (NLP) to detect fraud patterns in text messages. An API is available for enterprise fraud and security teams, offering a risk score along with supporting evidence for positive fraud identifications. The product is accessible in the following ways:

To coincide with the launch, PORGiESOFT has released the UK Smishing Report 2022, which identifies banks, government agencies, and parcel delivery firms as some of the most impersonated organisations. The report compiles data from open-source intelligence, as well as enterprise and consumer submissions, and reveals how phishing, smishing, and vishing attacks are increasingly linked. Among the top impersonated entities are HMRC, Royal Mail, and major UK banks.

The report also highlights the emergence of URL-free smishing attacks, in which scammers embed phone numbers, email addresses, or prompts for victims to reply with a keyword. These sophisticated methods bypass traditional URL filters, making them harder to detect.

The SenseText launch represents a significant step in PORGiESOFT’s mission to reduce global fraud losses, which exceed $750 billion annually but remain widely underreported.
